With the birth of my daughter, who suffered a stroke during labor and delivery, every fantasy, expectation, and idea of who I thought she would be, who I thought I was going to be as her mother, and who my family was going to be by adding a second child, disintegrated before my eyes. 

While my psyche was in shock, and I was in pain, there was a deep level of connection and love that I felt whenever I sat by her side in the NICU. Slowly, over the course of several years, I learned that my sadness and feelings of isolation were based on my beliefs and expectations all rolled up in the fantasy of what I believed should happen. 

I began to trust this deep level of connection and enrolled in a mom and baby yoga class. The class set me on the path to immerse myself in the study and practice of Yoga for the Special Child. Breakthroughs in understanding that my daughter was a completely intact soul like each one of us, learning to accept the as-is of any moment, and how to slow down and appreciate stillness, 

As a Conscious Parenting Coach, I have the opportunity to usher parents into a world where they can see the mental scripts that they are living by and in which they are trying to fit their children. Once that becomes visible, I feel privileged to guide them back to their own internal knowing, shedding the unnecessary and restrictive “shoulds” and “what ifs” so that they can see more clearly who their child truly is, ultimately giving both child and parent ways to live a more authentic and connected life.
